Barrister Md Shakif Alam started studying British law in 2014. He completed his Diploma in law in 2015 and his Bachelor of laws in 2017 from the University of London International Programmes, UK with a grade of Second Class. He also pursued the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) in 2018 which he successfully completed in July, 2021. He have been officially called to the Bar of England & Wales as a ‘Barrister-at-Law’ from The Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn on 25th November, 2021. After returning to Bangladesh, he one of the leading law firm in Bangladesh. He also worked as a Legal Intern of Legal & Corporate Affairs Department at ‘Marico Bangladesh Ltd’ since November 2021 to January 2022. Currently engaged as ‘Legal Executive- Legal & Regulatory Affairs’ at Foodpanda Bangladesh Limited, the largest food and grocery delivery platform in Asia, outside of China, operating in 12 markets across Asia.

Legal Executive- Legal & Regulatory Affairs – Foodpanda Bangladesh Limited

Drafting and reviewing various types of Agreement i.e., Import Agreement, Transport Services Agreement, Security Services Agreement, Cleaning Services Agreement, Tenancy Agreement, Lease Agreement, Amendment & Addendum of Tenancy and Lease Agreement, Corporate Bill Payment Agreement, Corporate Account Services Agreement etc. Drafting and Vetting Termination & Warning letters for different vendors. Drafting Agreements, Letters, Legal Notices in Bengali Language. Assisted in preparing all the required documents of Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments (DIFE) for Foodpanda and Pandamart Stores Licences. Attending Labour Department/ Ministry of Labour with my Learned Senior for Official Purposes. To visit relevant regulatory authorities and get compliance related brochures. Regularly Visiting Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) for regulatory works. Attending Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) for hearings. Laws and Government policies applicable for e-commerce business and list out what compliances need to be maintained. Familiarizing with Company Law, Labour Law, Contract Law etc. Legal and regulatory audit and prepare a report and submit it to the management.

Legal Counsel – Marico Bangladesh Limited 

Understanding the role of a corporate legal counsel, understanding of business partnering, familiarizing with company law, contract law, packaging law, vat, tax etc., secretarial functions, template creation, drafting and reviewing agreements, assisting in secretarial functions which includes collecting, extracting data from Central Depository Bangladesh Limited (CDBL), preparing audit observations, also learnt how to find the percentage of shares, i.e. of foreign shareholders, public companies and the company itself, reviewing services agreements, distribution agreements, manufacturing agreements, endorsement agreements, purchase and supply agreements, royalty and trademark licensing agreement etc., assisted in conducting Contractual Audit & Litigation Track List for Marico Bangladesh Limited., assisted my supervisor in drafting Dividend Distribution Policy for Marico Bangladesh Limited, also attended a training on development of sexual harassment in the workplace organized by BLAST.
