This policy addresses the website and its public-facing forms. Information obtained in connection with an actual professional engagement may also be governed by the relevant engagement terms, professional duties, confidentiality requirements and applicable law.
2. Information we may receive
Information you provide voluntarily may include your name, contact details, organisation, the nature of your legal or business enquiry, the information entered into a consultation or Smart Legal Enquiry form, messages sent to Chambers and any correspondence exchanged afterwards.
When Ask Chambers is enabled for visitor submissions, we may receive the title, legal topic and text of a question together with separately supplied private contact information. If comments are enabled, a chosen display name and an approved comment may be made public. We may also receive information you supply when requesting a response to, correction of or removal of publicly displayed material.
Technical and security data may include the approximate location inferred from an IP address, browser and device characteristics, the page requested, timestamps, security-event logs, and data provided by anti-abuse services such as Cloudflare Turnstile. The method by which an enquiry is transmitted is indicated at the point of submission. Some enquiry journeys may open a draft in your own email application; others may transmit the form directly to a secure website submission handler. We may use aggregated or de-identified usage information to improve navigation, performance and editorial content. We do not treat the submission of a website enquiry as consent to unrelated promotional email. The optional Knowledge Briefing newsletter is sent only after a separate, verified subscription request and includes unsubscribe instructions. Submitting an enquiry does not subscribe you.
4. Ask Chambers and public contributions
Ask Chambers is a public legal-information forum, not a confidential instruction channel. A visitor question may be considered for moderated publication in an edited or anonymised form. A moderator may withhold, redact, edit or decline publication. Only approved public content should be visible to other visitors; private contact fields are intended for access by authorised administrators.
Do not include names of opposing parties, national identity numbers, bank details, litigation strategy, privileged correspondence, client secrets, identifying medical information or any material you do not have authority to share in public questions or comments. If you need confidential advice, contact Chambers privately and wait for an appropriate secure communication arrangement.
Submission does not create an advocate–client relationship. A response in Ask Chambers is general legal information and must not be relied upon as advice for an individual matter.
5. Who may receive information
Access within Chambers is limited according to operational need and applicable professional duties. Depending on the features actually in use, information may also be processed by website hosting and maintenance providers, email-delivery providers, IT and security services, spam-prevention vendors, and authorised personnel assisting with an enquiry. We do not sell personal contact information to advertisers.
Website pages may link to third-party sites, including official regulators, courts, professional profiles and external research sources. Their privacy practices are controlled by those third parties, not by Chambers.
6. Security and overseas processing
We use proportionate organisational and technical safeguards, which may include access restrictions, moderation, encrypted connections, request validation, security logging and automated abuse detection. No internet service or electronic communication can be guaranteed absolutely secure. Please avoid sending sensitive evidence through initial public forms.
Service providers or servers may operate outside Pakistan. Where overseas processing takes place, Chambers will assess the relevant service, confidentiality and security arrangements and any requirements under applicable law.
7. How long information is retained
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose of receipt, subsequent correspondence or engagement, complaint handling, professional and legal obligations, record preservation and the management of abuse or disputes. Retention periods may differ for website enquiries, publicly approved contributions, security logs and active client files.
Moderated public questions and comments may remain available until withdrawn or removed under the site rules, subject to legal and evidentiary considerations. We review retention arrangements periodically, taking account of the nature of the record and our applicable obligations.

Where a request cannot be fulfilled in whole or in part, Chambers may explain the relevant limitation. The website is intended for persons seeking professional legal information and is not directed to children. A parent or guardian may contact Chambers if personal information has been supplied by a child without appropriate authority.
