General Corporate Retainer
A defined allocation of advisory support for routine contracts, board and management queries, employment issues and recurring compliance questions.
Practical ongoing legal counsel for businesses that need prompt, commercially informed advice without engaging separate counsel for every routine decision.
A corporate retainer provides a defined channel for day-to-day advice, review of commercial documents and guidance on recurring legal and regulatory questions. The scope can be arranged around a company’s operations, governance and risk profile.
The objective is continuity: the people advising the business acquire an understanding of its contracts, decision-making processes and recurring exposures. The retainer is not an undertaking to manage every dispute or transaction under a single fixed fee.
Our work may involve employment questions, commercial agreements, corporate secretarial and Companies Act matters, notices and claims, regulatory correspondence, and coordination with specialist counsel when a particular mandate requires it.
A defined allocation of advisory support for routine contracts, board and management queries, employment issues and recurring compliance questions.
Periodic senior legal input for companies without a full-time head of legal, including management reporting, escalation and legal-risk prioritisation.
Separately scoped assistance for transactions, investigations, litigation or time-sensitive regulatory work, alongside an existing retainer.
1. Scoping. We identify business activities, jurisdictions, recurring advisory needs, expected response requirements and the key points of contact.
2. Written mandate. The engagement letter defines included services, exclusions, response arrangements, confidentiality, fees and any necessary conflict checks.
3. Delivery and review. Advice is requested through agreed channels; active matters and recurring risks can be reviewed with management at a suitable interval.
4. Escalation. Material litigation, major transactions, external counsel and exceptional work are identified and agreed separately before significant additional expenditure is incurred.
Every mandate is defined by an agreed scope, reporting line, responsibility matrix and fee arrangement. An initial enquiry does not create a lawyer–client relationship. Discuss your requirements ↗
